Snap-in IP40 connectors enable quick, tool-free installation in front panels thanks to their integrated snap-in mechanism. The subminiature design is particularly suitable for space-constrained applications in protected environments.

Technical details

The snap-in locking mechanism of these subminiature connectors is achieved by spring-loaded latching elements which automatically engage when inserted into the front-panel hole. With an IP40 protection rating in accordance with IEC 60529, they offer protection against solid foreign objects larger than 1 mm and are designed for dry indoor environments. The connectors comply with the IEC 61076-2 standard for circular connectors. Typical housing diameters range from 6 to 15 mm, with installation depths of 10 to 25 mm. Tool-free assembly significantly reduces installation times – simply pressing the connector in by hand is sufficient for secure fastening.

Applications

In laboratory measurement technology, IP40 snap-in connectors are frequently used on oscilloscopes, signal generators and multimeters for connecting test leads. In medical analysis equipment, they serve as interfaces for sensors and sampling systems. Industrial control cabinets use these connectors for status LEDs, control buttons and smaller signal lines on the front panel. Their compact design makes them the first choice for portable measuring instruments and hand-held scanners, where every millimetre of space counts.
