The AS581 absolute encoder from W+S Messsysteme is functionally equivalent to the AS580 series, but is constructed entirely from stainless steel. This version is particularly suitable for use in corrosive environments, in the food industry or in areas requiring regular cleaning.
With an installation diameter of 58 mm and a synchronous flange, the AS581 can be fitted in a space-saving manner. Supported shaft diameters range from 6 to 12 mm, and connection is possible either axially or radially. The IP65 protection rating ensures reliable protection against dust and water jets. The operating temperature range is −20 to +70 °C, optionally up to +100 °C.
The output is via push-pull (HTL) or RS422 (TTL) with a supply voltage of 5 VDC or 8–30 VDC respectively. The available communication interfaces include parallel, SSI, CANopen, RS485, Profibus, Profinet, EtherCAT, BiSS-C and analogue. A reference run following a power failure is not necessary.
Applications include servo drives, machine tools, conveyor systems and automation systems in demanding environments with high corrosion resistance requirements.
