The beginning of our company’s history
The year 1983 marked the start of our company. At that time, Mr Helmut Hartner, an engineer, founded a trading company based in Vienna-Penzing, which specialised in the electronics trade. The small business was one of the first official representatives of the German company Franz Binder GmbH & Co. The company’s beginnings were quite modest. Initially, it consisted of just three employees.
Moving to the south of Vienna
The company’s early years were characterised by significant growth. Its first-class service and high-quality products led to a huge increase in its customer base, which in turn resulted in the sales territory being expanded and new staff being recruited.
As a result of this development, the company’s previous headquarters became too small. Consequently, in 2001, the company moved to the south of the capital.
Change at the top of the company
In 2010, the company’s founder, Helmut Hartner, took his well-deserved retirement. His son, Ing. Michael Hartner, took over as the new managing director. He, too, brings a high level of expertise and industry experience to the role, which he has acquired over many years since joining the company in 1997.
Internationalisation of the company
In 2015, digitalisation took hold at E. Hartner. The company launched a new online electronics shop and began offering its products via the internet. This not only opened up new and efficient sales channels. It also led to the company’s international expansion, as the online shop enabled it to attract many customers from abroad. Initially, the focus was on the main product groups, but the online range has been steadily expanded.
New online shop and new warehouse
In recent years, E. Hartner’s online electronics retail business has grown significantly – both in terms of the countries it supplies and the breadth of its product range. Many further changes are in the pipeline for 2018. Firstly, the company is bringing a new warehouse into operation. Secondly, the online shop is being revamped and given a new design.

Since the start of the year, we have been delighted not only to count the German manufacturer Globalencoder W+S Meßsysteme among our clients, but also to be able to offer their products as part of our portfolio. The family-run business manufactures high-quality products at its German production facility
